Car Fender Covers

A car is a precious commodity and often the first big investments any individual makes in ones life. One naturally would want to keep the car covered with a car cover and protect from dust and the onslaught of weather conditions.

Car covers become an extremely essential accessory, if one’s car is an antique. With such cars, covering the various parts of the car is as important as covering the car itself.

In fact, if one observes properly one will remember that in vintage cars, car fender covers were an integral part of the car’s anatomy. They did not just cover the fender of the car but also added a touch of grace and glamour to the car.

However, with the advent of modern technology, cars stopped being designed with flashy car fenders, as they are most frequently blended into the sleek designs of the cars. The need for car fender covers thus decreased. Nevertheless, there are still vintage cars around and owners of these cars often need fender covers, which are quite difficult to find.

One of the best places to find a car fender cover for a vintage or antique car is the local junkyard. If there is a car that has been discarded in the junkyard, you might be lucky enough to find out a fender cover here.

The other alternative for car fender covers is to get one custom made. There are a lot of people who deal in various car accessories, including car fender covers. One has to approach them and specify the car’s requirements. It would be ideal to bring the car for which the fender cover is to be made. Like tailors, these dealers will take measurements and custom make the cover for the owner, based on the specifications given to him on the color, feel and look.

However, such custom made fender covers are often expensive. Despite this, the thrill of seeing a good custom fender on one’s choice car is a pride that has no substitute.

Benefits of a Car Buying Service

Before we go into the details of the benefits let’s look at what a car buying service is how it works.

You desire a new or at least new to you car, but you do not have the time to search all over town for the car that you want. Many times, you just head on down to the car dealership closest to you and pick out a car and you are done. However, in most cases, you only purchased that car because you did not see the one you wanted on the lot, it was in your price range, and above all else, the salesman told you that you would not find a better deal anywhere else in town. There are many reasons why we do not find the car of our dreams.

- No time
- Don’t want to deal with car salesmen
- Don’t believe you can find the car you desire in our price range

Now, if you could give someone else the information on what type of car you want make, model, and year, what you can spend in monthly payments, how you will finance the car, and how long you wish to pay for the car, you would be overjoyed.

This is what a car buying service does for you. However, they go the extra mile. They will represent you at car dealerships throughout the country including your favorite to find you not only the car of your dreams but also the car of your dreams at the best possible price, thus saving you money.

Honestly, a car buying service is just a consulting firm whose only job is to help you save as much money as possible when you buy a new or new to you vehicle. Car buying services also advise you on financing, leasing, trade-ins, and help you every step of the way to ensure that your car buying is no longer a hassle but an enjoyable experience.

The individuals at a car buying service know the ins and outs of purchasing a new or used vehicle and will research, locate and then get the best possible price for the car that you want.

Car buying services are not affiliated with any dealership or manufacture so they will give you information that is objective and unbiased. They represent you when they are searching for the vehicle that best suites your needs. These people have been in the business for years, they understand the lingo, where the rebates are, know how to use incentive programs to your best benefit, and of course know all the secrets of car manufacturers and car dealerships.

All car buying services will of course charge you a fee for their services, however, you will know the exact amount upfront. It will not be on a commission basis like the one you see at car dealerships. The car sales person will try to get you in the most expensive car on the lot because he will receive more commission. With a car buying service, they are here to help you save money, not try to pressure you into a high payment and extra money in their pocket.

Benefits for using a car buying service can be broken down into these categories:

- No Hidden Fees – you know exactly what you have to pay to the car buying service and to purchase the vehicle of your choice.

- No Salesmen – They are not trying to sell you a car; they are providing a service for you to search out the car you desire at the best possible price.

- Travel – You only have to fill out a form online or talk with the car buying service via telephone. You do not have to travel all over town to find the car you want.

- No Pressure Sales – No one will pressure you to purchase a car. They will give you the information they found for the vehicle of you choice and the decision is left up to you on whether you buy or not.

- Reliable Information – The car buying service will give you all the information they find concerning the type of car you desire. You will know exactly all the information upfront and nothing will be hidden in the background as a surprise once you are ready to purchase.

- Advice – They will give you advice on interest rates, car dealerships, and even car insurance.

How To Choose An International Car Shipping Company

It is not difficult to choose an international car shipping company that can ship your car safely and cheaply. You just need to know what to look for when choosing an international car shipping company.

Here are a couple of pointers to keep in mind when choosing an international car shipping company.

1. Plan Ahead

It is important that you not rush into shipping your car. Give yourself time and plan in advance. The cost of shipping a car overseas can be substantial and the last thing you want is to be slammed with a huge bill without realizing it. Having time to plan allows you to compare the different international car shipping quote to decide which one is better.

2. International Car Shipping Quote

Like I mentioned earlier, it’s important to shop around and compare each company’s international car shipping quote and the turnaround time. Some companies may use a combination of shipping routes to ship your ship to your destination and may take more time.

Also ask if they will ship your car door-to-door or terminal-to-terminal. Some car shipping companies can only deliver to terminals in major cities or ports and you are expected to go there and pick up your car.

Some will charge an additional fee to deliver your car to your doorstep particularly if you live in remote areas. So make sure to get the complete cost up front in the quote before signing.

3. International Car Shipping Insurance

For shipping cars overseas, the car shipping insurance can amount to a large sum. Most car shipping companies provide a basic car shipping insurance package when you sign. Some may offer a higher premium for additional coverage depending on the cost of your car and also the destination.

So be sure to ask them about the various car insurance options available. If you are shipping a brand new sport cars or antique car, it’s best to consider upgrading to a higher premium to protect your investment.

4. Quality of service

If possible, ask for references of previous customers who have shipped their cars using their services. It’s a good way to determine their level of service. It’s better in my opinion to choose a reliable international car shipping company which cost a little more but you get peace of mind that your car is in very good hands.

5. Car Shipping Report

All car shipping companies will provide a shipping report before and after the car is shipping. The purpose of the shipping report is to note down the condition of the car before and after it has been shipped. It is important you take note of any discrepancies when they write the shipping report as it’s the only document that can prove the condition of your car before it’s being shipped.

By following these 5 points when choosing an international car shipping company, it can help you to find a reliable and cheap car shipping company.

Is Trade a Good Way to Buy a New Car?

Trading in used car lowers the purchase price of your new car, and at the same time it is an excellent way to get rid of an old car without trouble of getting someone to buy it and hassling over the price. Also, it is a great deal especially for the car dealerships as they are going to pay you less then you would have gotten by selling the car yourself.

Naturally, they are also going to sell your used car for much larger price then they paid you. Very often profit on selling trade-in cars is larger then on selling new cars.

However car trade-in can still be beneficial to you because many states calculate the new car tax in a way to reduce the sales tax for the new car by subtracting the traded-in cars value. Unfortunately, not every state does this and you must check if this applies in your case, just ask your car dealership, they will know all about it.

Selling car back to the dealer is another way to profit from trading-in your car if you do not want to sell it yourself. For example if you drive a Ford and want to buy Nissan, you should sell your Ford to Ford dealership. You will probably get more for your car this way because it is usually worth more to Ford then it is to Nissan dealership.

If you want to find out what is the market price of your car, all you need to do is go and ask your car insurance company. Each insurance has so called Kelly Blue Book in which each cars value is stated based on a cars year and model.

Another good way to check for possible price of your old car is to search online and check for the prices of the similar models. While you are at it compare mileage as well as the prices. Be sure to have all this info before you decide on a trade in.

One small detail in trade-in, is cleanliness of your used car. Make sure to clean the car thoroughly both inside and out before going to the dealership. Also, remove all your personal things. Professional cleaning job can often increase your cars value so you can look at it as a kind of investment.

Clean cars often get offers higher for several hundred bucks then the messy cars. Remember that the dealers are just humans, they are like you and me and if they like what they see, chance is you will get better price.

So should you trade-in your old car?

No – If you have some experience in car selling and expect to get a better price selling it yourself.

No – If you are not in a hurry and can spend several weeks and possibly months selling your car.

OR…

Yes – If you do not have much time to waste.

Yes – If you want to avoid car-selling hassle (yes, you as a seller can also be hassled).

Yes – If your primary goal is to get rid of your old car and the price you will get for it only comes second.

At the end the choice is yours, but whatever you do not forget to bargain and try to get a better deal, no matter which way you choose to go.

Toyota Supra – An Overview

The Toyota Supra is a type of sports car and grand tourer that was originally produced by the Toyota Motor Company from the years of 1979 to 2002, making it one of the older models with the longest value of production in the Toyota line. The style was originally derived from one of its predecessors, the Toyota Celica; however, it was specifically fashioned to be both wider and longer so that it would be a sturdier car than the Toyota Celica. However, the designers were able to maintain the original speed in the vehicle, despite its larger size than its cousin, the Toyota Celica.

During its 3rd generation starting in the middle of 1986, the Toyota Supra MKIII, the Supra became its own model, no longer based off the previous model, the Celica. As a result of this, there was no longer the prefix “Celica” and became, simply the Supra. However, due to the similarity it is often mistaken with the Toyota Celica and vice versa.

The Toyota Supra also traces many of its roots back to the Toyota 2000GT with the original insistence of the 2000GT being the motor used for the car. During the first three generations of the line, a direct descendent engine of the Toyota 2000GT, the M engine was used. All four of the Toyota Supra’s have sported and produced an incline 6 cylinder engine with most of the engine specs being almost identical except for a few choice technological innovations. The aspects of the interior have also been quite similar through all four generations. The engine is relatively powerful, but lacks a certain get up to the acceleration. However, this is made up for in luxury as well as overall power.

This particular car also gained its own logo after it broke out from the shadow of the Toyota Celica. However, it did derive from the original Celica logo; it still remains somewhat unique, as the car was proven unique. The logo looks very similar to the Celica logo, but it is blue instead of being orange and has several other altercations to it. This logo was used until around 1986 during the second generation right before the Toyota Supra MKIII was released. A brand new logo came along with this new title. It was similar in size but has orange writing and a reddish background and did not have the dragon design as it formerly did. This logo was used on the Toyota Supra until around 1991 when it was switched to the current logo, which is in the shape of a oval.

Toyota discontinued the sale in 1999 and officially stopped production in 2002 in Japan. The Toyota Supra is an iconic sports car that has been used in numerous video games and movies for its look as well as its notoriety for power and speed.

Did Toyota’s Focus on Customer Satisfaction Cause the Recall?

Did the pressure Toyota put on its dealers concerning Sales Satisfaction cause the Toyota recall issue? Toyota over the last several years began to focus on the dealers and how they were handling customers during the delivery process. The focus was no longer on the entire buying experience and the dealers ability to sell vehicles, but was reduced to scores on the Toyota Motor Sales Survey and J.D. Power Study. Toyota uses a scoring system called Vehicle Delivery Quality or VDQ to measure each customer’s satisfaction when they pick up or “take delivery” of their new car.

Toyota knew they were building a great product, being one of the Initial Quality volume leaders, but Toyota’s Delivery Quality was way behind the market average. Obviously, Toyota controls how they build their vehicles and every aspect of the processes and procedures in the factories. However, Toyota did not have the same control on the dealer level with every dealer having different processes for delivering new Toyotas. Toyota begin to see a pattern develop – if the Toyota store had bad VDQ scores, then that stores numbers were down usually in both sales and profit.

Was it this major concern for these bad apple stores with bad VDQ scores and a lack of control at the dealer level concerning customer satisfaction that caused Toyota to stop doing what they do well? I believe so. Toyota took for granted that they build and manufacturer one of the best automobiles in the world and stopped focusing on that and began to focus on the question, “what can we do with our dealer body to increase customer satisfaction?” Toyota had all of the solutions, Customer Experience Groups, Customer Relations Manager positions, VDQ tools, tests and training, Toyota Motor Sales Delivery Training. Toyota put managers into the field and they were involved with nothing but Customer Satisfaction and Delivery Process.

How many unsatisfied customers are there now due to the recalls? The St. Petersburg Times quoted Manny Oliveira of Sun Toyota, “If we did 50 repairs a day, just on the cars we’ve sold here, it would take us a year to finish.” Dealers are doing everything they can to satisfy the customer, most, if not all Toyota dealerships have increased their service hours some even opening 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It is innate for a dealer to want to satisfy his customers. If the dealer doesn’t have happy customers, they won’t stay open very long.

However, Toyota should have continued to focus on what they do well and let the dealers focus on missing keys, door dings, missing floor mats, full tanks of gas and all of the other things that go into customer satisfaction at the dealer level. I am confident Toyota will fix these recall issues and will once again gain their reputation as a dependable car builder. I am also confident that Ford, GM, Hyundai and other auto manufacturers have narrowed that quality gap and Toyota will find it much more difficult to climb back to the top as the number one selling auto manufacturer in the world.

A Brief History of BMW Motorcycles

The history of BMW motorcycles dates back to the year 1921, when the firm started making engines for other firms. BMW (Bayerishe Motoren Werke) launched its first motorcycle namely the R32, in 1923. Currently, the firm’s motorcycle manufacturing is under the brand name BMW Motorrad.

In the year 1916, two firms, Flugzenmaschinenfabrik (an Airplane Factory) belonging to Gustav Otto, and Flugwerke Deutschland belonging to Karl Rapp, joined to form the company Bayerische Flugzeugwerke. Initially it made airplane engines, and was later renamed as Bayerische Motoren Werke of Bavarian Motor Works (BMW), by Max Friz and Karl Rapp in the year 1917. Their logo comprising a roundel, portraying an airplane propeller in a blue sky, has remained popular and is also seen on BMW cars today.

The German air force funded BMW to manufacture the Fokker DV II, which was among the best aircraft of the day. However, at the end of the First World War, in 1919, the Treaty of Versailles was signed, and Germany was forbidden from making airplanes. Reluctantly, the company’s head designer Max Friz turned to make automobile and motorcycle engines, in order to keep the company afloat. Most importantly, he designed the horizontally opposed twin cylinder engine, which is better known as the “boxer” engine today. The M2B15, its first boxer engine, used the British Douglas design, which gave BMW moderate success. A more successful version emerged shortly afterwards, using a light alloy cylinder head.

In 1923, the R32, the earliest BMW motorcycle was manufactured. With cylinder heads made of aluminum alloy, the engine had a re-circulating wet-sump oiling system, a very advanced feature for the time. This system was used by BMW until 1969, and the R32 became the basis for the future boxer powered motorcycles. It also had a shaft drive, which was retained till the F650 was introduced in 1994 – only the F650 series does not have shaft drive.

In the year 1935, BMW launched the first motorcycle using telescopic forks. In 1937, Ernst Hene set a world record, which stood for fourteen years, riding a supercharged 500cc OHC BMW at 173.88MPH. Ernst sadly passed away in 2005, at the age of hundred.

BMW was in ruins by the close of the Second World War. Germany’s surrender forbade the company from making further motorcycles, and its top engineers were taken to Russia and the US for continuing their work in making jet engines that were produced by BMW, during the war. After the ban was lifted, it had to begin from scratch, and engineers used pre-war motorcycles as the basis of their designs. In 1948, the first post war motor cycle was made by BMW, and production exceeded 17,000 units by 1950.

The R68, BMW’s first sporting motorcycle was launched in 1951, and by 1954 it was making 30,000 motorcycles. In 1957, it lessened to 5,500 or less, and it exported eighty-five percent of its twin powered boxer motorcycles towards the late 1950s, to the United States. From 1960 to 1984, BMW was in financial trouble, though it periodically launched single-cylinder models, offering the last of the series namely, R27 in 1960. During this period, however, a range of high capacity boxer twins were produced including a model that many consider to be one of the great modern classics — the R90S.

In 1983, BMW launched a 1000cc, water cooled, four cylinder engine, the K100 in Europe, which was introduced to the United States in the following year. However, demand for its boxer never waned, and hence it continued making boxer models. In 1985, it introduced a three cylinder 750cc version of the four-cylindered one, which was smoother. In 1987, R100RT, the boxer powered sport bike was launched again, with mono-lever rear suspension. In 1989, the K1, a sport bike based on K100 was introduced. ABS introduced in 1988, and became the standard on all K models of BMW motorcycles. The F650 was introduced in 1994.

Volkswagen Automotive Legends

VW Golf GTI do you have one?

Over the years the Golf GTI has changed its shape many times, but has it improved or could the car worse nowadays?

The newest Golf has 3 different models you have the GTI, GTD, and the R I would personally buy the GTI I have always preferred the shape of the GTI and its still a great looking car the newest Golf GTI has a selection of two different engines for you to choose from the TSI petrol 6 speed manual gearbox or you can get exactly the same engine but with the DSG auto gearbox.

Petrol engine stats:

• Maximum Speed: 149 mph

• Torque: 207 lbs.ft

• Acceleration (0-62mph): 6.9 seconds

• MPG Urban: 28.2

So you can all agree that the Golf engine has some decent numbers but the question is will it really do the job when it is on the road.

Inside the Golf you can have the choice of leather or material id say a lot of people will go for leather just because it makes the car so much better for looks and when you try to sell it.

When you think of Volkswagen you will most likely think of the classic beetle since it is the car that really introduced the Volkswagen logo around the world. The first Volkswagen car was designed in 1934 by Ferdinand Porsche as a method of cheap reliable transport. Through the years VW have become a global force in the manufacturing sector getting bigger and bigger with every new design. Not to long after the beetle had been created and unveiled the Golf was released. The first generation of Golf or the rabbit as it was called by the Americans was launched in 1975 and was stopped in 1984. Through the years the Golf has gone from the original square body shape and gradually over the years become streamlined and round the first Volkswagen rabbit GTI was a very square body compared to the new golf introduced in 2006. Through the years the Golf has been fitted with a bigger engine but in addition has gained more weight the biggest engine that Volkswagen released in the Golf was the impressive Golf R32 with the 3.2 V6 engine in the front. The R32 is the most powerful of the whole Golf range because it is 4wd and it has 237BHP which isn’t that great for a V6 I would have expected a lot more from Volkswagen.

I think the car that Volkswagen could be most pleased with must be the Bugatti Veyron with the unbelievable 16.4 litre engine with 1001BHP and reaching an incredible 250MPH there are only a handful of Veyron’s and several different types that were made by Bugatti the only real difference with the other models was mainly the inside detail and different wheels other then that they could not do much more to make the car distinct.

What do you think is VW make is the best ever?

If your thinking of buying Volkswagen used cars, what one would you get?

Future Ford Cars Kill Allergies

Ford cars already have massage chair features to help drivers push away the stress of a long workday or the daily traffic jam. Preventing and relieving anxiety is a form of preventative medicine. Ford recently announced that they will take prevention a step further. Ford cars of the future will include apps to connect drivers and riders to the latest medical news as well as such things as the pollen count.

This type of medical connection will allow drive time to become informative in a very personal way. Where the radio delivers the news and information, a GPS-like feature will give drivers medical information about their exact location’s pollen count and smog alerts.

Using this information can help drivers in several ways. First, it will encourage them to take their medications. Modern sinus medications are designed to work best if taken every day at the same time. Knowing the day’s pollen count and smog figures, drivers will stick closer to their medical regimen.

Pollen and smog may not be avoidable in a commuter situation. However, on long trips, it will be possible for drivers to re-route their trip away from these dangers.

Drivers with asthma issues will not be tempted by a seemingly beautiful day. In other words, they will resist the temptation to roll down the windows when the ap warns them about smog and pollen levels. The pollen count will remind them to keep the windows up and the air conditioning on, keeping the worst asthma triggers out.

This is good news for more than 60 million Americans who suffer from allergies and asthma. It should help drivers and their riders protect themselves from daily exposure to allergens and triggers.

This is just the first big move by Ford to put medical help into the car. Ford is utilizing a technology much like the handsfree phones found in their cars. However, unlike the phone, this app will give the pollution index, the pollen count and a four day forecast.

Pollen counts actually vary with the weather. Knowing their patterns will allow drivers to learn the best times to take their commute. Smog counts also vary with the temperature and the amount of daylight. Again, learning how to avoid smog will help drivers stay healthier.

The new Ford technology is due out in two years. In the meantime, they are working on new medical applications such as diabetes and heart rate monitoring. Some day the car may be a place where drivers and passengers can get valuable health information and data.

If these applications prove as useful as they seem, drivers can use their commutes to become smarter about their own health problems and healthier as result.

Going online to compare quotes offered by multiple auto insurance companies is a very efficient way to get the best rates for insurance for your vehicle. Using an online quote comparison service, you can get the best rate for automobile insurance within minutes.
